Wood County Hospital is now accepting applications for a Pharmacist. The Pharmacist provides personal care and professional excellence under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, and according to standard procedure, by compounding and dispensing medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving written prescriptions from the physician.

Job Duties:

  • Demonstrates appropriate skills required to work with the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other healthcare providers in the assessment of medication regimens.
  • Monitors the effectiveness and/or toxicity of prescribed medications and screens for medication-related problems, such as inappropriate drug, inappropriate dosing, drug allergies, and adverse drug events and interactions.
  • Educates other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe ordering and administration of medications.
  • Assists in areas of care that may include:
    • Antibiotic Monitoring
    • Antimicrobial Stewardship
    • Pharmacokinetic Dosing
    • Nutrition Support
    • Critical Care Monitoring
    • IV to Oral Drug/Dose Conversion
    • Anticoagulation Monitoring
    • Discharge Prescriptions
    • Patient Counseling
    • Medication Reconciliation
    • Guideline/Protocol Development
    • Drug Information
    • Formulary Review
    • Medication Utilization Evaluation

Shift Details:

Hours: 30 hours per week

Shift: Rotational - rotates 6:30am - 5:00pm, 7:30am - 6:00pm, and 9:30am - 8:00pm

Weekend, holiday, and on-call rotation required


Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Certification:

  • Licensed Pharmacist

Preferred Experience:        

  • 1-3 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred
