Wood County Hospital is now accepting applications for a Supervisor in our Surgery department. The Surgery Supervisor serves as the secondary leadership for the department/unit’s daily operations and provides 24/7 oversight in collaboration with the Department Director. Assists with patient care, either directly or indirectly. Demonstrates critical thinking/clinical reasoning to ensure the delivery of safe, quality, timely, compassionate, and cost-effective care to the patient populations served by the department/unit.
Integrates best practices in the delivery of care.
Serves/acts as a resource based on current standards of nursing care, including auditing of patient medical records for documentation and risk management issues.
Provides assistance for clinical decisions when Department Director is unavailable.
Supports the mission, values, and vision of the organization.
Assists with the implementation of the organization and division strategic plans at the department/unit level, including integrating/aligning the department/unit goals, objectives, and initiatives with those of the organization; as well as educating staff on the importance of their role in helping with achievement.
Teaches, coaches, and mentors staff on perioperative practice.
Assists in addressing unplanned unit staffing needs by working variable hours/shifts or coordinating coverage with other units.
Hours: Full Time Exempt, 40 hours per week
Shift: Day Shift
Graduate from an accredited program for nursing education, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing(BSN) required OR must be currently enrolled with the expected graduation within 2 years of hire.
Licensed RN in the state of Ohio.
Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS required.
CNOR certification preferred.
Previous experience in surgery including Charge RN and/or Supervisor required.
