Wood County Hospital is now accepting applications for a Certified Surgical Technologist. The Surgical technologists work under the supervision and authority of a surgeon to facilitate the safe and effective of both invasive and non-invasive surgical procedures. CSTs ensure that the operating room environment is safe, the equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety.
Job Duties:
Gathers, checks, and opens supplies and equipment needed for assigned procedure; ensures equipment is functioning properly; ensures appropriate sterility of instruments and supplies.
Assists with patient transfers from stretcher to operating room table as needed to ensure safety.
Collaborates with anesthesia providers to ensure maintenance of normothermia of patient during procedures.
Demonstrates competency in urinary catheter insertion if indicated.
Performs surgical scrub, and dons sterile gown and gloves, and establishes sterile field with necessary items to safely complete the procedure.
Demonstrates competency in all positioning techniques for the assigned procedures. These competencies include, but are not limited to; prevention of nerve damage, proper rotation of extremities, prevention of circulatory or respiratory compromise, and prevention of patient sliding secondary to table position changes during procedure

0630 to 1700, with on call responsibilities and a rotation required
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
Successful completion of a surgical technology program accredited by Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA)
Minimum License/Certification:
Certified Surgical Technologist through NBSTSA required
Preferred License/Certification:
Certified Surgical Technologist First Assist preferred
